Why people choose us

Compliance comes as standard

Every website we build comes with the compliance work done, at no extra cost: your ICO registration checked, your privacy, cookie, terms and accessibility pages written for your business, a cookie banner that holds tracking back until people agree, and your enquiries handled under UK GDPR.

Why it matters

Why does a small business website need any of this?

The moment your website takes an enquiry, you are holding somebody’s name, phone number and what they need doing. UK data protection law applies to that the same way it applies to a large company, and the ICO can fine a business that holds personal details without paying its data protection fee.

Cookies are covered by their own rules. A site that loads analytics or advertising tags before a visitor has agreed is breaking them, however many other sites are doing the same. When a small business gets this wrong it is rarely on purpose. Usually nobody was ever asked to look.

What you get

What is included, item by item

Your ICO registration, checked. Before your site goes live we look you up on the ICO’s public register of fee payers. If you are not on it we walk you through registering, which for most small firms is £52 a year, or £47 by direct debit. Your site never claims a registration you do not have.

Your legal pages, written for you. A privacy policy, a cookie policy, terms and an accessibility statement, written from your answers to our questions rather than copied from another site. Anything that sets out how you trade, such as deposits or cancellations, comes from you, because it is your contract and not ours.

A cookie banner that means it. Rejecting is as easy as accepting, nothing is ticked in advance, analytics and advertising tags do not load until somebody agrees, and every page carries a link to change their mind later.

Enquiries handled under UK GDPR.Your form collects only what somebody chooses to send. Their enquiry goes into your own account, kept apart from every other client’s, and your privacy policy names us as the processor with our ICO number and says how long records are kept.

A marketing box that starts unticked. Asking you a question is not signing up to a mailing list. If you want to send marketing to people who enquire, your form gets a separate box for it, unticked, and only the people who tick it hear from you.

A form that never pretends. If a message cannot be sent, the form says so and gives your phone number instead. It never thanks somebody whose enquiry went nowhere.

Accessible from the start. We build to WCAG 2.2 level AA, the international standard for accessible websites, and the level UK public bodies are held to. In plain English, that means:

  • Somebody who cannot use a mouse can reach every link, button and form with a keyboard.
  • A blind or partially sighted visitor using a screen reader hears every page in a sensible order, with every picture and button described.
  • Text stands out clearly from its background, so it can be read on a phone in bright sunlight.
  • Buttons are big enough to tap with a thumb, and nothing flashes or moves in a way that could cause harm.

Every site also has a display preferences panel, so a visitor can make the text larger, raise the contrast, calm the movement, make buttons bigger or switch to a simpler typeface. We never install an accessibility overlay: the bolt on widgets that promise compliance in one line of code, and do not deliver it.

AI answers

Do you write anything to game ChatGPT or Google’s AI answers?

No. Since 15 May 2026 Google’s spam policy has covered attempts to manipulate its AI Overviews and AI Mode, and the tricks being sold for it are the kind that get a site removed: hidden text written for AI systems, “best in the area” lists a business writes about itself, and near-identical town pages built only to be quoted.

We do none of it. What gets a business named in an AI answer is the same thing that gets it chosen by a person: real prices, real jobs, real reviews and facts only you have, on a site that loads quickly and says plainly what you do.

Our own house

We hold ourselves to the same rules

Begin Group Ltd is registered with the ICO under reference ZC181845, which you can check on the register yourself. This site carries its own privacy policy, cookie policy, accessibility statement and data complaints procedure, written to the same standard as yours would be.

All of it is part of the one package on our pricing page, and what goes into the site itself is on our website design page.

Questions

The things people ask

Does the compliance work cost extra?

No. It is part of the £197 a month package, the same as the hosting and the changes you ask for. We do not sell the legal version of your website as an upgrade, because a website that breaks the rules is not a cheaper website, it is an unfinished one.

Do I actually need to register with the ICO?

Most businesses that keep customer details on a computer or a phone have to pay the ICO a data protection fee, and a website taking enquiries is one of those. There are exemptions, and the ICO has a short online check that tells you which side you are on. We go through it with you before launch rather than guessing for you.

I already have a privacy policy. Can I keep it?

We read it first, against what your new site actually does. Most of the ones we see were copied from somewhere else, so they name tools the site does not use and miss the ones it does. If yours is right we keep it. If it is not, we write one that describes your business rather than somebody else’s.

Will the cookie banner cost me visitor data?

Some, and we would rather say so. People who decline are not counted by the tools that need consent, and that is the law working as intended. We also run a visitor count that sets no cookies and needs no consent, so the numbers in your report are honest about what they include.

What happens if someone asks to see or delete their data?

Your privacy policy tells people how to ask, and we help you answer. Their enquiry sits in your own account rather than a shared one, so finding it, sending it to them or deleting it is a few minutes of work, not a search through somebody else’s system.
