Seven checks

What we look at

Most free tools check one thing and call it a health check. A site can pass a speed test and still lose every visitor on a missing phone number, so we score seven areas and give you the weakest one first.

Structure
Whether the pages a customer needs actually exist and can be found. Missing service pages, dead ends, a contact route that takes more clicks than it should.
Legal
The pages UK law expects a business website to carry, and whether the cookie banner does what it claims. This is the one most sites fail and the one that costs the most to get wrong.
Accessibility
Whether somebody using a screen reader, a keyboard or a magnifier can get through the site. In the United Kingdom this is not a courtesy: the Equality Act 2010 puts an anticipatory duty on any business serving the public.
SEO
Titles, descriptions, headings and the words on the page, checked against what someone would have to type to find you rather than against a generic list.
Trust
The things that tell a stranger you are real: a phone number, an address, reviews, a named human being. A site can be beautiful and still look like nobody is home.
Technical
Speed, mobile, security and the plumbing underneath. Measured on the live site, not on a copy of it.
Branding
Whether the site looks like one business or three, and whether what it says about itself matches what it sells.

How it works

Three steps and a real report

You give us your details and your web address. We open your site the way a customer would, run the six checks against the live pages, and score each one. You get the overall figure and the headline finding for every category on screen while you wait, and the written report follows by email.

The report is not a PDF of warnings. Each finding says what we found, why it matters to somebody trying to buy from you, and what fixing it involves. Some of them you can do yourself in an afternoon, and where that is true we say so.

Who it is for

Service businesses with a site that is quieter than it should be

This is built for the trade, the clinic, the garage and the studio: businesses whose website is meant to bring the phone to life and is not doing it. If you already know your site is the problem but not which part of it, that is exactly the gap this closes.

It is also worth running if somebody built your site a few years ago and nobody has looked at it since. The legal checks in particular catch things that were fine when the site went live and are not fine now.

Questions

Before you run one

What is a website health check?

A website health check is a review of how well your site is working across the things that decide whether a visitor becomes a customer: whether it can be found, whether it loads, whether it looks trustworthy, and whether it meets the rules a UK business site has to meet. Ours scores seven of those areas and gives you an overall figure, so you can see at a glance where the problem is rather than reading a list of technical warnings.

Is it really free?

Yes. There is no account, no credit card and no trial that starts charging you. You give us your name, phone number, email and your website address, we run the check and we send you the report. We ask for a phone number because we ring people about their results, and we say so on the form rather than burying it.

How long does it take?

A few minutes. The check runs while you wait on the page, so you get your score on screen rather than being told to watch your inbox. The full written report follows by email.

Is this an SEO audit?

SEO is one of the seven things we score, not all seven. A lot of free tools called SEO audits only look at the SEO, which is why a site can pass one and still lose customers on a missing phone number or a cookie banner that does not work. If SEO is the only thing you want looked at, our SEO service page is the better read.

What happens after I get my score?

Nothing you have not asked for. The report is yours to keep and act on however you like, including with another agency. If you want to go through it with somebody, there is a free twenty minute call you can book, and if you would rather we left you alone, we will.

Can I check a site that is not mine?

One check per business, and we do not run them on our own sites or our clients. Beyond that we would rather you checked a site you can actually change, because a score you cannot act on is a number and not much else.

Would rather just talk it through?

If you do not have a website yet, or you already know what is wrong and want somebody to fix it, skip the check and book a free call.
