As one town. When we measured it, “plumber east grinstead” was searched about 210 times a month, and “electrician east grinstead” and “builder east grinstead” about 110 each. The villages around it hardly register: Crawley Down came out at about 10 a month for a plumber, and Forest Row, Felbridge and Lingfield too few for Google to report.
That makes the job simpler than in Brighton and Hove, where two names each need a page. Here the East Grinstead page does the heavy lifting, and it names the villages it covers, so somebody in Ashurst Wood who types the town’s name still finds you.
The High Street is the other half of the story. Shops like Chocabox are found by people walking past and by people searching at home, and the site has to serve both: opening hours and directions for one, and something to buy or book for the other.
